Mamarevolution.com was started in early winter 2004 by four young mamas who needed a place where they belonged. Too young and alternative for babycenter and too old for the teen based online communities, they struck out to make a home for mamas who just didn’t fit in anywhere else. After a few nights of brainstorming and women sharing their talents, Mamarevolution.com was born.
Mamarevolution is a pro-choice, feminist community who seeks to support, encourage and educate young women and mothers from all backgrounds and cultures. Our goal is to provide the community and support that is so desperately needed as we fight for our rights as parents and women, and to defeat the social stereotypes that surround young or alternative parents.
While we promote breastfeeding and natural parenting, we recognize that each family is unique and has their own set of needs and customs. We respect and support all families and their allies in their quest to raise strong, positive and socially conscious children.

I'm going out on a limb here, and I doubt anyone will actually go for this but... I have a friend in need. She is a pregnant teen but her mother refuses to let her have a baby shower so now her little girl is going to be born without all the goodies a lot of us thankfully got to give our children.
I'm throwing her a baby shower behind her mom's back... thing is - I only have 4 people to invite and that's not much. If any of you guys would be interested in getting her something (however small it doesn't matter, it's the thought that counts) PLEASE EMAIL ME. PlsmaChic@excite.com
She's having a little girl, & she's due on October 8th (so this is all really last minute)she hasn't registered anywhere because she doesn't think she's getting a shower, and the only thing she has is a crib (and she's breastfeeding). She could use diapers, pacifiers, outfits, etc. or even a gift card to babies r us or something... Thank you for everything and God bless.
Please help her if you can... Thank you.

Feeling like a dummy, but I finally figured out how to post here . . .
What I really wanted to do was post a message for anyone who looks at this page and considers joining the group . . .
What makes you a "unique mama"?
As for me, I don't have tatooes or piercings, but I don't look or dress like a typical (or stereotypical) mom. I wear stuff from Hot Topic and Delias and generally look more like a teenager than an adult. I'm 24, but I look younger . . . when I go out with my daughter and my mom, people usually think my mom is THE mom. But that's just the way I look.
I also have radical (and depending who you talk to, unpopular) opinions . . . I'm an anti-adoption activist, totally pro-choice when it comes to abortion, 100% in support of extended breastfeeding (and doing it with my daughter), and I believe in parenting by instinct, not going by the books or "experts." And I'm really opinionated/out-spoken. Passionate, I guess, is the more polite word for it.
I'm ALSO (as if there needs to be more) very liberal when it comes to how I raise and plan to raise my daughter. Which isn't much of a problem now, seeing as she's only 18 months, but I can see it making things difficult down the road, once she's in school and such.
Truth is, I don't fit in in a lot of crowds. Most days that's cool . . . I don't WANT to be like everybody else. But it's always nice to meet other misfits and make friends, right?!
So join in . . . what makes YOU unique? Current Mood: chipper
